This is an event that we try to do annually but with Carcajou being along the river, the conditions can be very unpredictable at times which does not make it possible to do it every year.

It takes a lot of volunteer help to put on this event --- with food preparation for lunch and faspa, boat owners and drivers for transportation out to Carcajou, and all the side-by-side's to transport the Senior's up the hill to the main area, just to name a few.

Once we've got the date set, we start planning for the event.

Here's a brief rundown of what a typical Senior's Day looks like:

• Everyone meets up on the morning of the event @ the La Crete Ferry.
• All the boats try to leave from the ferry landing at 10:00 AM or earlier.
• Once all the boats and buses and planes have arrived at Carcajou, we start with an opening welcome, we sing a couple songs, we have some sharing and prayer.
• Then it's time for some lunch.
• Right after lunch, we take a group photo of everyone.
• A tour of all the Historic sites is offered to whoever is interested & hasn't seen or been at Carcajou before.
• That is followed by some more singing, harmonica playing and sharing.
• Then it's Faspa time.
• And then it's time to try to get everyone home safe in time for supper.

This is such an enjoyable time for all - for the volunteers as well as for our Special Guests 'Seniors'.

Carcajou has been an old historic site since 1932, it was the place where settlers first landed on their journey north to La Crete.

We find it very interesting and very important to keep our heritage alive, which is why we love to have this Senior's Day event every year!
